Art & Spirit
Big, star-filled sky… Rushing waterfall… Green wildflower fields… Lazy river.
Ahhh… life here in the country has helped each of us reconnect to our most natural Self- the calm, clear, creative Self buried under the noise of too much busyness. Here we are reminded of our interconnectedness to other living things, the rhythm of nature’s time, and that state of wide-eyed wonder we had as children.
It’s interesting- we find we don’t need to “entertain” ourselves here as we did in the city. Stepping out the front door is walking in front of the “big screen” of a changing sky and landscapes painted and repainted every season. Life in the country keeps our senses alert and our imaginations alive. And creatively, one almost HAS TO paint or build or sculpt or sing with all this inspiration around!
So… we intend to live more intentionally here. To tread lightly on the land. To remember to pause and notice what is before us each day and every season. We find we are healthier and kinder when we practice more mindfulness and gratitude. And our creative juices flow like the river when we live outdoors like this – outloud.
In the future, we hope to offer opportunities for others to experience the peace and creative inspiration of this place. In addition to visits from family and friends, Beth will continue hosting Mindfulness and Creativity weekends for women. We also enjoy sharing what we’re learning about small farming, sustainable living/building, and creative ideas for empty-nesters, so we may offer workshops on some of these topics. Lastly, everyone will be invited to experience the joy of natural building where we will sling some mud constructing our little artist studio.
“Creativity is our true nature; …a process at once as normal and as miraculous as the blossoming of a flower at the end of a slender green stem.” Julia Cameron
